It would depend on how big the event was. If it is limited there would be some hard times but the disabled would still be looked after as much as possible.
If the event were big enough to overwhelm emergency services the disabled, those in hospitals, nursing homes or home bound would be out of luck. Electric shuts off for those home bound on ventilators and such would go first. Hospitals and some nursing homes do have emergency generators but fuel is limited. Then the chronically ill on prescription meds each day are also at risk.
In a large enough SHTF event it will not be pretty, but instead very cruel.
What will become of the disabled when the SHTF?
