.308 terminal ballistics

a lot of the cheap ammo thats remotely affordable has rather poor terminal ballistics, you have to pay more for soft points or other decent ammo and that cost just to get a couple hundred more yards of effective range past 400 just isnt worth it to me, and if youre in a heavily wooden or urban area youd be served just fine with much cheaper, lighter, 5.56 or 7.62x39

you say its better to have it and not need it, than to need it on not have it, well this is true for ammunition, intermediate calibers are more common, much less expensive, and you can carry more with you.. therefor you'll have more ammo when you need it
