NATO, military spending, and the european welfare state

ive been doing some more thinking about NATO and european countries in general in relation to ours.. i hear these stories about how europe can spend so much on their healthcare system, free education, and welfare by not spending much money at all on their military.. sure, they dont, because whenever something happens, through NATO they hide behind us

so because we spend so much money on our military, granting these european leaches the luxury of not having to spend much on their own, by extension, we, the american tax payer are actually subsidizing the entire european welfare state

if we left NATO tomorrow, forced germany, france, and these other countries to ramp up their defense budgets for their own protection their economies would collapse almost immediately

so, does anyone else think its bull**** that we spend so much money on our military so these leaches in europe can enjoy damn near a free life on the backs of the american people?.. isnt it about time we end NATO which is clearly just wealth redistribution from us to them as we subsidize their entire healthcare and education system through our military spending?

lets significantly reduce our military spending, put that money back in the pockets of the american people or pay off our national debt and focus on the defense of our country, if NATO and countries within NATO still want to enjoy being military allies with the united states then isnt it about damn time they reduce their entitlement spending and beef up their own militaries to pull their own damn weight for a change?
