Two reasons to rig polls

So as not to derail the 3+ other threads where this question has come up, I have started this thread. Amid'st the allegations of poll rigging arises the question, "Why?" Well, we can debate all day long whether push polls drive the narrative in favor of the favored candidate, or encourage their supporters to the point that they neglect to turn out, but the two real reasons are obvious:

1) To legitimize the outcome of a tampered election. It would be suspicious if every poll showed Trump predicted to win, only to have Hillary inexplicably be elected. It would raise fewer eyebrows if all of the polls corroborated her win.

2) To delegitimize the outcome of an honest election. Should Trump win, be it in the absence of tampering, or in such wise that he overcomes the tampering, they want pre-election polls in place to call his victory into question. "Hiw could it be that Trump won if all of the polls for months before the election, even the week before the election, showed a clear preference for Hillary?" It's the long game.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
