Setting up and storing plywood window covers

Having never lived in major hurricane country, I've never been had occasion to see or use reusable plywood window covers. As part of my preps in the new house, I'd like to have a set of window covers set up and stored so if I need to board up, I can do it readily.

What are some of the slickest, and easiest to sort, pull out, put up, and use methods that you folks have seen? Do I drill the holes in the plywood oversize, and only actually screw into the window frame? What screws, or bolts are recommended?

I appreciate any info on this. I've done some searches on this and other boards, but haven't found a consolidated answer.
