I don't see it happening due to being too difficult for the enemy, but it would be interesting!

The high school kids were experienced hunters and used to living out in harsh conditions. Most of their actions were guerilla style hit and run actions, not fighting organized forces head on.

The Taliban and similar have kept us from winning in Afghanistan and it could be done here. IEDs, snipers on hilltops, ambushes on supply convoys, etc. Attack, scatter, repeat.
