We recently moved into our vacation home and today we closed on our other place. We bought low and had refinanced to a 15 year loan six years ago, so the payoff if really low. We will have some extra funds (after we pay off my car and a line of credit we took out for updates on the home) and I am going to update / remodel my kitchen in the house we live in (think 1980's cabin style kitchen).
So, the things I know for sure is I am going to go propane on the stove (no natural gas here) and skip the full sized fridge for drawer style fridge and freezer. I want to stay rustic (the whole house is very cabin like) and somewhat commercial (I cook and bake a lot, so big areas of counter space is a priority).
So my question is....if you had the chance (or actually have) to remodel a kitchen to your specifications, what would you add, or not add. If you have done it, what lessons did you learn...anything that you regret?
