Maybe ol' Bill Ruger had it right?

I know there's a lot of, well, less than kind words that have been said about Mr. Ruger after "The Ruger Letter" ("An Open Letter" William B. Ruger, American Handgunner, 1992), but maybe he had the right idea -- bear with me here . . .

I have a Ruger P89 of early 90's vintage that came with the 10 round magazines. I happen to have 3 of those for it. I also have several 15 round magazines of various manufacture as well. I enjoy them, not because of their actual capacity, but because they are in multiples of 5 and they make shooting a box of shells more pleasant, because I don't have any "looseys" when I'm done! (current and former smokers will get that reference )

I've got current pistols with 6, 8, 12, or 17 round mags. This is almost untenable when you like to keep all your rows in the ammo box full throughout the day, and empty them in an orderly manner. Call me a neat freak, but multiples of 5 makes tracking your ammo a lot easier.

(this could be considered satire, but like all comedy, it's funny because there's a grain of truth to it)

Let's block ads! (Why?)
