Stowing an AR in Ram Box

I have a Dodge Ram with a Ram Box on either side of the bed. It locks automatically when the vehicle is locked, and has rubber seals to prevent moisture from entering.

I'm thinking of storing a truck gun (AR15) in there. There's plenty of space.

How would you go about storing this gun in there? I almost think I need some kind of minimalist case or something in order to protect the gun from getting banged around when I turn corners. However, I also need quick access to it so I need to be able to pull the gun out without removing whatever its stored in as well. Thoughts?
