Henrik Rohdin
Sells for just under $9.00
I will have to say, after a slow start, it turned out to be a decent read. It is full of odd-ball "alien" names and such, I suppose that is inevitable.
I would rather authors consider this - if an alien is riding a (fill in an alphabet mix of odd noise here) like a horse...would it not make sense for Humans to call the creature a - -wait for it - a horse? (sigh) Yeah, I know.
The story is very noir and sadly, treats killing (and mass death at that) in the same manner one might look at trimming a toenail. Several - sub-plots? or memes perhaps are just too predictable -- global warming is killing Earth/humans are racists and politicians are crass fools (okay, maybe that isn't too far off target)/everyone will sell out first chance they get.
Think James Bond meets Bladerunner meets Serenity. Alien soldier meets a very familiar military analyst (like Jack Ryan, eh?) and the pair overcome incredible (and I do mean incredible, like impossible) odds to save the day from the bad guys. Yeah, the bad guys also just happen to be Big Business / Arms manufacturers....
Despite the torrent of memes, it is a pretty decent story that will keep you guessing just who sold out to whom...
Bottom line, I found it to be worth the asking price. I can only hope the next in the series is better - or at least has a faster start.... So - 4 Stars and hoping the author will warm up the plot line and trim back on the memes.
