Audio recording information needed

You will need:
  1. Audio interface - Price can vary, usually cheaper/unknown equals dodgy components and reliability... a Focusrite Scarlet Solo can be had for $100
  2. Condenser mic & cable
  3. Software

I'd suggest looking for an interface/mic bundle from a reputable online gear reseller like Sweetwater or B&H. Sign up on their websites for email notification and you might get a discount code towards a purchase. They sometimes also promo price their bundles. Either way, you get a warranty and companies like Sweetwater have great resources for customers. I can vouch for both, as I've used both within the last year.

If your laptop is a Mac... then you have a program on it called "Garageband"... which is a fully featured DAW (digital audio workstation). It comes included with audio processing tools (compression, EQ, etc) and also has a UI that lets you do non-destructive editing.

This is a pretty good tutorial on voiceover on a Mac.

If your laptop is a PC.. it's a bit more time consuming (installing software, configuring, etc.) but not too different than the Mac.

For PC, besides Audacity (which I wouldn't use), there is Pro Tools First, which is free.... you can get it here: https://www.avid.com/pro-tools

You will still need the interface, mic and cable.

I'd also suggest searching Youtube for VO tutorials... specifically geared towards audio processing (I'm assuming you have no audio engineering background)
