Hand Gun Hunting for Whitetail

I'm going to try it this year. I will be using a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum with hand-loaded ammo. Sierra 240 gr JHC over 19.5 gr of Alliant 2400. Iron sights.

I'll be hunting South Eastern Virginia Deer.

I'll be hunting from a tree stand with shots limited to 40 yards absolute max. Most shots will be closer to 25 yards.

Anyone else hunt white tails with a handgun? What do you use?
