Charity

Charity is a virtue and it is one of the "easiest" virtues to practice and enhance. But many of us, if not all, always under perform in this virtue even if we profess to be religious/faithful people.

Do you give to charity because of religious beliefs?
How much (aprox. in percentage) and why that much?
Why you don't give more?
What is the main reason(s) you give charity?
Do you planify it or is based on impulse (or both)?

All religious or non-religious answers related to charity are well received in this thread sine we want to creatively improve our charity "skills". I am trying to understand what really makes us cooperative related to charity: mercy, inspiration, guilt, opportunism, boasting, etc.

I give charity less than 1% per year these days. I gave more in the past but I got busy in life (kids, job, artistic projects, religious projects and entertainment). However I always try to find a form of charity that inspires me and maximizes my little contribution.
