Low or no income prepping. Living through it

So the post is about two things:
1: Low income or no income prepping, and
2: Those who used known survival skills when unemployed or in a bad world.

Personally I have been through low income for a majority of my life, and have achieved only moderate income as of late. (Well under 50K a year in actual Net income.)
I learned the "survivalist" school back int he early and mid 1980's and tried desperately through the years and decades to move upward with little avail.

As a result I wound up in a world at one point of real long term unemployment and during that time was only able to provide myself the other half and the critters we had with food foraged from the wild (paddle AKA Nopales Cactus can make a fine meal), and used other skills and available tools to collect dead wood and the like to fire up a charcoal pit and the like to cook with and stay warm.

I am curious if anyone has any stories or tips.

I would like to write on this issue for those like me who are on the low end of things and use similar skills almost literally daily.
