What were the first survival forums?

I was more into guns and military when the internet forums starting kicking off in the late 90's. Some of the first gun/hunting sites then are now massive, however quite a few also dissappeared.

So how did it go with survival forums? What were the first ones? What are the largest ones? How does this one rate for longevity and activity?
