Food and Necessities for how long?

Just read the food shortage in Venezuela. Thinking! How long without replenishing can your family live?

It seems to me in survival situations food is the paramount essential. This means preserving the requirements.

Water- a secure supply.
Preserving by:
Dehydrating.
Canning.
Root cellar.
Freezing a bit iffy.
Pickling.
Fermenting.
Stocking dried grains and beans and nuts.

Not only must most of these items need be available, but there must be some effort to make them palatable.

After food, comes personal necessary heat (clothing), then comes shelter from the elements. Then comes how to replenish?

The real question is, how long can you exist with no outside replenishing?

Restoring batteries?

Hey,

So I've been trying to plan out a way to keep my batteries fresh.

Even right now my laptop's battery barely holds a 10 minute charge (it's 3 years old)....

Basic essentials. Car battery will only last a year... Laptop if i could...

Is there a way you know to restore batteries?

I've been looking into setting up solar panels. Looks like a good way to cut electricity at worst. But been thinking about the battery bank... Still far far far from anywhere knowledgeable about this if you couldn't tell. Just from a day or two of reading around here.

Most people I know are voting for Trump but they are older working class
