Genetics/Ancestry/Bloodline/DNA Testing Options w/Privacy?

I'm very interested in looking back to me and my wife's different bloodlines and ancestry and heritages and all that. I think what I'm wanting is probably achievable only by DNA testing. What I want is a simple result that is going to tell me "You are 27% German, 23% Native American from X tribe, 12% Cajun, 10% Irish..." etc.

I also would like a way to search through names and documents and map out my family tree as well as my wife's and input details and documents and all that.

So to do that, it seems Ancestry.com has a good setup for mapping the family tree, but I'm not sure if they do DNA testing with the kind of privacy I want. I don't mind using their family tree mapping system while using someone else's DNA testing service.

Do you guys have any helpful ideas or experience in these two things? What would be your recommendation for a family tree mapping service? What about for a high quality, high privacy DNA testing service that will give me a result with blood percentages for seeing heritages (I.e. Cajun) and world geographic areas (i.e. Eastern European)?

Worst place to be when SHTF ?

Of course, would be a city like NYC, but outside of that, I'm thinking NJ might be one of the worst.

Small, diverse area, lots of highways, NYC, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Newark, Camden- real list of tough cities a lot longer than that. Muslim/African migrants allowed in by future politicians will be making things a lot tougher than today. Will make cities even less hospitable. And then when S really HTF for good, lots of people will think cities are useless and 'burbs and rural areas a little better. They'll all head out of those cities and see what they can find.

Also maybe some things make Pennsylvania unsuitable to these people- it'll deflect them towards NJ.

Then also there's just ocean in east, cities in northeast, wide river to cross all along west, ocean and Philadelphia in south.

Advantages of NJ- a lot of stuff to scavenge because of high population. Over 500 towns in small area.

Best place for survivalism- maybe Maine, actually whitest state. Maybe becomes important enclave if S doesn't HTF.

Thinking cities will be impossible, but looks like some people are going to try or have some kind of plan.

How to find preppers after SHTF

Obviously many of us are starting groups or finding people. Just thinking, though, that most people are supposed to be prepping on their own, and feeling a little sorry for them.

Let's say you prepped really well, possibly with a team, and you made it through the first tough weeks or months. Things are calmer outside. How, then, can we find the people who put a few thousand dollars into it, did an alright job of that, and who also got through those first weeks or months- but whose prospects of doing much after that by themselves aren't that good? Like, scattered individual families across your county, state, or a neighboring state, the last survivors in their towns?

Won't some kind of radio scanner let you find frequencies that people are using? After the number of bad guys has lessened, should we all be spending some time on daily broadcasts, a la 28 Days Later or I am Legend? Drone scouting? Signals?

Or should we not even try to find these people?

How to find preppers after SHTF

ICOM V80 question

I am new to HAM and know NOTHING, or less. I like this unit cause it s Mil-Spec-810. Now before anyone goes on about that, my smart phone is 810G spec. Its 8 years old and has taken a beating beyond imagine. I want a comm device that tough. My question, is there a radio like the V80 that is multi band and close in price? I looked around and cant find anything or don't know what I am looking at. Any help is much appreciated.

Old Food Storage (Test Two)

Just ran another test on aged food storage (search for previous test -- 12+ foods all 40 years old.)

Today's test:

- 20 year old sugar: Perfect
- 20 year old fruit punch mix: Perfect too.
- 20 year old dry milk: indiscernible from fresh (both a little nasty)
- 44 year old oatmeal: surprisingly edible. Nutrition?
- 20 year old alphabet soup: borderline inedible.
- 20 year old spaghetti: cardboard flavor pasta. Dog food.
- 44 year old corn meal: mostly inedible.
