6.5 Creedmoor "mainstream"?

I know this caliber is mentioned in a few threads, but I didn't find anything started that fits the bill.

Now this is not a strict invitation to compare this cartridge to others, but I certainly expect some of that to occur.

The 6.5 Creedmoor, to me, is "that caliber" mentioned by a lot of informed people, pro or con, with great knowledge or lifetime experience with firearms. A niche caliber, exotic maybe, a true firearms "snob" caliber even. Or at least it has been my perception.

The recent flyers for Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops advertise several types of rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Ruger, Remington, Tikka, Savage, common manufacturers with common models. It is clear they were going after a demand. So instead of this being that mystery gun always mentioned on the Internet...."it has arrived", IMO.

So, my questions are these. Do you agree that 6.5 Creedmoor is now "mainstream"? If you own one, what purpose does it serve in your survival battery, or is this just a "range toy" that you had to have for fun? If you were giving advice to a new prepper starting out from scratch, would you recommend the 6.5 CM in lieu of any of the other "traditional" calibers? And do you think this is just a temporary fad, or is 6.5 CM here to stay?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
