I trapped a few skunks out from under a ladies house back 15 years or so ago. Well tonight it get a urgent phone call from her. She had a half grown pole cat in her laundry room. The exterior vent was 2.5 inches off the ground plus un-gaurded an the lil sucker climbed in then broke thru her dryer vent vinyl vent hose. I grabbed my 22, some low speed ammo and my snake tongs an headed into her house. It took me a few attempts to grab him but once I pulled him out from behind the washer I dropped him in a dog food bag an out the door I went tied him up and tossed him in the truck bed. I used the stuff she used way back when to get started the de-orderize job and left her a happy lady. I hated it sprayed but that is what they are known for. I charged her 20$ but she gave me all the cash she had an told me if she had a 100$ bill she would have given it to me.

I made a pipe trap back years ago for under houses in tight spaces that works great. They do not even spray inside it cause I built it small. It is also air tight nearly which would help ifn they do spray. This was a removal mission not a trapping deal so my trap was not use. If there was more room to work and the skunk was in an outside shed it would have worked fine.

Not my first skunk removal just my first one from inside a house LOL.

What can be learned here? Do a walk around your house when ya get time and check to make sure all thing are closed up good an these dryer vents are gaurded . Look for attacks on you foundation where some critter may have been digging. Remember that rat/chip monk sized holes let snakes enter. If you have elderly neighbors or parents do the same for them next time you get a chance. A few minutes work could prevent an unwanted critter visit.
