Extremely sloped land

Does anyone have any experience, 1st or 2nd hand, on utilizing extremely sloped land in conjunction with a homestead? Farming or ranching in general?

For purposes of this drill, let's assume something like a 45 degree (sorry, not super familiar with slope measurements. We might have called it a 60 degree in the Army).

Looking at land. Some of it is steep. Wonder if there's anything practical to do with it. Anyone seen successful "terracing" done for agricultural purposes?
