"Selma envy" and today's leftist

Heard this phrase for the first time recently, and it's an excellent turn of words in trying to figure out why the unhinged left acts like it does.

From Black Lives Matter activists assassinating police officers to women wearing silly hats to antifa communists attacking Republican political rallies, today's left winger is hoping to recreate the moral justification of the 1960s civil rights and free speech movements in America.

They wish, with all their hearts, that Bull Conner and the cops would oppose them with dogs and firehoses. They yearn for another Kent State, in order to burnish their morality in the face of "The Man," who is preventing their goals. They hope for newspapers to editorialize against them.

Well, over the past 50 years the left has become The Man, and street protests are now celebrated by the very same state machinery that used to condemn them.

What to do? Who can become their 'Other' that hopes to repress them?

White males. Conservatives. Religious people. Working people. And now Trump, and the Americans who voted for him.

Wait, what? Working people?

Yep. It used to leftists took the side of working people against employers. Now, they take the side of the "poor" or unemployed or illegal alien or any of the other takers in society against the producers, or those who pay taxes. The only exception to this is the minimum wage earners, as they can be exploited to 'strike' for 'fair wages.'

Selma envy... It explains a lot.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
