Barley

Today, by accident I found that it's not recommended to store barley long term, due to the risk of botulism, because it doesn't dry enough.

I've purchased barley sealed in containers by a long term food storage company. So far I've had no issue.. but now I'm wondering...(or maybe just paranoid)

I'm wondering what they do differently, to make sure the excess moisture is taken out to prevent botulism. I just assumed all dry graines were safe. Does anyone know? I have searched their websites, but I've found nothing.

Has anyone had a negative experience with barley stored long term?
