How STUPID are People?

I just can NOT believe the idiocy of some folks.

1. They live on a barrier island (mistake #1--bad storm will leave you without utilites, as well as being "cut off" from an escape route, increased risk from flooding/storm surge, etc.)

2. When told to EVACUATE because there is a Cat 3/4 hurricane bearing down on them (MANDATORY evacuation orders, no less) they decide to "stay put and ride it out"

3. After ignoring instructions to leave, they call Emergency Services IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING HURRICANE begging for help/evacuation.

Umm, sorry, in the middle of the hurricane there is NO WAY to reach them. Any attempt to do so would put rescuers in peril. They were told that they would have to wait until AFTER the storm for any help.

How much do you want to bet that after everything is over these morons will be griping right and left about the lack of help?

I fail to find any sympathy for those idiots.
