How do I make an oak round resist rot when exposed to the weather?

I do not have a shed large enough to put an anvil and forge in, so how do I make oak last outdoors?

A pin oak (water oak) fell on the back of the property. I have been thinking about cutting a section of the trunk and put an anvil on it.

Put it up on blocks and get it off the ground, paint the top,,, and then what?
