Sling-Shots

My son is wanting me to get him a sling-shot to try hunting some small game with. I have absolutely no experience with sling-shots and don't even know where to begin.
I am getting him a sling-shot from walmart and some of the bb's to let him start target practicing with.
Has anyone ever hunted small game with a sling-shot?
What qualities would I look for in a good quality sling-shot?
Any suggestions in this will be appreciated.
