Anyone try to take lures on carry on luggage

I'm going to be traveling soon and want to take my fishing gear. I want to avoid checking a bag if I can. I want to take a small tackle box with some jigs and plugs. I'm concerned TSA won't let me carry them on. TSA's website says small lures are ok, but don't define what small means, they may be thinking crappie jigs. Anyone try to get through the TSA security line with fishing lures?
