Ideas for log cabin chinking recipes?

Hi all,

I'm looking to start chinking my cabin. I've got a beautiful 24FT x 20FT up in Montana. I'm looking to chink the cabin myself using a homemade recipe; I don't want to spend $1000s on synthetic chinking.

I've researched and found the below recipe and also this log cabin chinking guide seems to suggest the same one too. I'm planning on using:

• 1 part lime
• 2 part portland cement
• 3 part masonry sand

Any experience or guidance would be great!
