I found Zinsser Cover Stain Primer, which is alleged to adhere to all finishes. This is what I want to use as a primer over the water based polyurethane.

I plan to use Behr oil based kitchen/bath enamel as my top coat.
The cabinets are in excellent condition except the polyurethane has worn off around the knobs and I also simply want to paint the cabinets white to brighten and modernize the kitchen a little.
I tried to remove the water based polyurethane with soap and water and denatured alcohol and neither totally removed it. Some was removed but some was left and smeared around a little. I can find no information about how to remove water based polyurethane.
Sanding or stripping is not something I want to do. If this product will cover and adhere to the water based poly, and if it gives a good smooth surface to paint over, I'll be happy.
Has anyone used this product? What did you put it over? How has it stood up over time?
