Tube Tent on steroids?

I am toying with the idea of stitching together a Tube Tent to stow in the Get Home Bag in our vehicle. My idea is to simply take the typical equilateral triangular Pup Tent geometry of a Tube Tent, and scale it up so that the base of the end opening is 6 ft. wide. I want it to be large enough to hold 2 adults and 2 children, plus their 4 Get Home packs. This is intended for emergency use, not routine camping.

To keep weight down, I'm thinking of cutting the bottom from a cheap Harbor Freight tarp for moisture resistance, and using camo ripstop Nylon for the upper pieces. I plan to add a rain fly over it. I know how to sew and I own a machine, so fabrication using these thin materials is not a concern. I am also considering fabricating an optional thermal liner made from emergency blanket metallic Mylar, but I'm hoping to find a source in bulk so I don't have to stitch together actual blankets.

Has anyone heard of a similar project that they can point me to? I like to study what has already been done, to see if I can learn from their experiences. Thanks for your time.
