Many of us have plenty of stores of food, ammo, medicine and other supplies. Some have enough to last for several years or more.
So what happens after that all runs out? I'm talking like WAY down the line.
I'm thinking of my young children. Say this all goes down within the next year or so. We survive for a while, but what then? What happens as my kids get older and supplies start to run out? Sure we can grow food and stuff, but what about other items we can't grow or make ourselves, like salt, medicine, metal tools that break and need replacing, things like that? What happens when all the solar panels start to break down and there's no way to repair them? When all the powder for ammunition is gone and no one knows how to make any more? What happens when all the gasoline and diesel and propane runs dry and there are no more refineries making any, let alone a transportation system to distribute it?
We're so dependent on so many industries for all the prep items we need and stock up on, but if those industries go away, no one will have stocked enough to supply all future generations with everything they'll need.
I know the simple answer is something like, "people lived that way in the past and society will adjust," but I just don't see how we can go from where we are now, with all the modern technology and conveniences, back to something like medieval times. It was okay for them because they didn't know any different, and things progressed for them at a slow and steady pace, but for us it would be totally foreign, scary and insane. I just don't see how people would adjust to that.
I'm thinking life would become unbearably bleak, dreary, miserable and just plain unlivable for most people.
Thoughts?
What happens long, LONG after the SHTF???
