Since they all start off as tiny transplants when they get transplanted outdoors I wanted to come up with a plan to be sure I had enough space, and put things in the right order so the tallest ones were at the back, the permanent ones were in their own corners, etc...
Tried to do it on an excel spreadsheet but then decided to try one of the free garden planning software sites. Worked out well! Biggest advantage is it is all to scale automatically PLUS it automatically calculates planting distance, so you get a real quick idea on how much space you actually need. The software really helped me think about pathways, spacing, and plant placement so I found it useful (made me realize I would need a whole lot more space than I thought).
There are a few out there, most all offer a few days free trial if you just want to plot out a new garden (and screen cap it for later reference), course if you want to buy a yearly subscription they come with a bunch of other features.
I used growveg.com which comes with a 7 day free trial. Works a lot like excel or photoshop. If you are plotting out a new garden area (vs. using existing raised beds) you may find it really helpful. Screencap of my garden plan below with a bit of the software interface.
