How many people would watch this sort of Youtube channel?

There's a non-zero chance that I'll be losing my job in the next few weeks. I'm fairly distressed by this, but it is what it is.

If I can't get another job in a hurry I am seriously thinking of doing a multi-week backpacking trip. It would be a good opportunity to de-stress and get my head screwed on straight again, too.

I have a very good DSLR camera that shoots fantastic video and a mediocre smart phone. Most of the route I'm thinking of would have cell service.

Am thinking of multiple short video posts with the cell phone to Youtube per day -- where I'm at, trail conditions, what's going on, all the usual trials and tribulations of a solo backpacking trip. Then, at convenient bail points, I'd have someone pick me up, come home, and post better and longer video I'd taken that were more instructive in nature.

I'm thinking "instructional" posts could cover things like wild edibles (though not many around this time of year), how to catch fish from small streams, how to catch crawdads and how to cook them, what I look for in a camp site, wild animal sign and habits, various gear reviews and tips, how to read the weather, how to find water in dry areas, and so on and so forth.

Some background: I've been backpacking since I was in junior high, and I'm mumble-forty years old. I'm also a mumble-forty-year-old chubby middle aged woman, and I know that may work against me on multiple levels. (I'm far fitter than I look -- don't ask me to run a marathon because arthritis, but I can walk with a pack on all day.)

Anyway, thoughts?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
